You are already venturing into an area that you are not that familiar with so you are really going to need to keep it very basic. If you want to avoid these pratfalls, you have to set up goals and stick to them. You do this by breaking each one of them down further to make everything as simple as possible. If you make it too complicated, you will find that are never getting anywhere. This way, you are going to see progress and success breeds success.

When you are getting ready to move forward, you have to get a press kit together that you can distribute. This is more or less a little sales kit that you can put out that will hopefully attract people and promote both you and your album. It should include: a demo CD, photos, a bio, all of your contact information, and website links if you have them. Allow the person to be able to learn anything that they need about your music with a quick glance or a click on their computer.

At this point, you are going to have to figure out who you are going to target for distribution.
