For aesthetic purposes, this Ovation Celebrity Standard left handed acoustic/electric guitar is a good place to start. With its honey burst finish absolutely beautiful, it looks like one of the Gibson guitars bright orange/yellow center, filled with a darkening red on the edges with an LP Sunburst finish.

The first thing I noticed on the Ovation left handed guitar was the absence of a pick guard. If your pick attack is fierce, you could end up damaging the finish around the string area. So you can either alter your picking technique or select another instrument with a pick guard. I would not cover up that lovely finish for anything!

The bridge is designed so the strings are pulled through from the bottom, very solid and easy to restring and the sound of an Ovation left handed acoustic guitar is something else. A clear, precise tone is the order of the day and solid tuning keys ensures that you will stay in tune all the time you are playing.

Negative: The strings could cause body warping or cracking over time, because of over stretching with no adjustment. In their acoustic/electric lines, Ovation electronics are hard to beat. The amplification works wonderfully (I have played mine with a distortion pedal! wow!), because it also includes an equalizer that allows you to sculpt your sound to a tee. The tone and sounds are characteristics of an acoustic. This left handed guitar can easily imitate the best electrics even when amplified.

The Negative Side: The amplification modules take a 9 volt battery and they consume a lot of power. While unplugging the cord helps save the battery, it would be advisable to carry a spare one just in case!

Like all Ovation guitars, the Ovation left handed guitar, has a rounded back. When playing in a seated position, some players complain that it slides off. A good strap or daily practice can easily remedy this problem. For it is that rounded plastic back that gives Ovations their unique sound.

Ovation left handed acoustic guitars have a slim neck. This is thinner than almost any acoustic I have ever played. Hence, it is easy to play it like you would your axe and lay down solos or chunky rhythm lines. It takes some getting used to, but it is well worth the time.

Do note, a portion of players have complained that the action is too high on this guitar. As a matter of preference with any player, you can always have the neck adjusted to lower the strings action. You have No reason not to buy this model! For playability, affordability, versatility and quality, the Ovation left handed guitar is right on target as a starter for left handed instruments. I highly recommend them as I am an owner myself (Ovation Celebrity Performer series). There is really is no better choice than one of these Ovations guitar. - 18424

There are a lot of people that don't understand how much of an impact posture has on your guitar playing ability. You need to sit on a chair or even bench which has no arms that make it easy for you to hold a guitar. Also make sure that your back is straight because your posture affects not only the sound but also your back.

Ever thought about the way you hold your pick? You should if you want to play guitar even better. You see, you want to hold the pick firmly, but you don't want to grip it too hard. You need to have a good enough grip on the pick that you won't accidentally drop it.

If you grip your pick too tight then there is a chance that you will experience some fatigue. This is because your arm gets tired, and may even go numb. Your grip should be firm but not excessive, and if you do so you will be left with a great sound and an arm that isn't completely tired out.

Naturally you need to figure out whether or not you've chosen the right pick. There are a few different types of picks which are flat picks and finger picks. The majority of people use flat picks, but that doesn't mean you have to.
