Movie Downloads - Enjoy Movies At Home With Your Family

By Lee Kerr

The media storage world just keeps changing and sometimes it's a bit hard to keep up with. Your family movie night at home used to require a special machine and special media storage, now has all changed, now movie downloads through the Internet are available.

It originally started with watching movies at home using a VCR or Beta player. Not only could you purchase the movies for your very own library but rental agencies sprung up all over the place and the movie night at home was born. No more commercials, home made popcorn or the new microwave variety, and a bottle of pop, and a family of four enjoyed a night's entertainment a lot cheaper than heading to the theatre.

Of course, being able to stop your rented movie was a new bonus, you take a bathroom break, answer the phone, or catch someone up who had to leave for a moment. And then, if you bought the movie instead of renting it, it was played over and over again for the family to enjoy.

The unfortunate part about home movies and home movie systems was not just storing all those movies but also, the media systems changed so fast that you soon had to purchase the newest media player in order to enjoy the latest in movies. Once again, this has all changed.

These days the quickest way to see the newest movies is to download movies from the Internet. These downloadable movies are usually the latest releases and of course, a lot easier to store than the disks or VHS variety.

You'll also be able to find your favorite old movies available such as classic movie downloads and others. And of course, this media system isn't going to change. Your storage of movies may change a bit as external drives are now available that hold over 5G's of data giving you the opportunity to store several movie downloads on something not much bigger than a lighter.

The home computer is now the latest media system, downloads are quicker, media storage and retrieval is quicker, and the best part, you don't have to buy separate machine.

There are many ways to purchase or rent movie downloads. Explore the many different opportunities available on your Internet and find full versions of your favorite movies that are easily downloaded and stored.

Movie nights at home haven't changed, the family can still enjoy an inexpensive night at home watching a movie they have downloaded on the Internet. It's just that you no longer have to get to the movie rental place before it closes, return the movie paying late fees because you forgot it for a few days, or store book sized or CD sized movies somewhere in your home.

The world is changing but your movie nights at home don't have to, look to setting up a theater system with you home computer, and then rent or purchase your favorite movies online and download them for the whole family to enjoy over and over again.

Of course, again, you'll never have to purchase the latest video machine in order to watch the newest releases. You'll also won't have a bunch of different types of machines in order to play your old favorites, with the new digital era, you can download your movies any time, store them easily, and of course, replay them when you want. - 18424

Michael Jackson -- Entertainer to the End

By James Ziebarth

Michael Jackson came into this world on August 29, 1958. He was born in Gary, Indiana. His parents, Katherine Esther Scruse and Joseph Walter Jackson were of modest means. Katherine was a devout Jehovah's Witness and Joseph worked in a steel mill. Michael was born into a musical family. Joseph performed with The Falcons, an R&B band.

Joseph saw his chance for success through his kids. He started a group with Michael's older brothers. In 1964, Michael Jackson joined the group as a backup singer and dancer. He would quickly be promoted to lead singer. After his promotion, the band was renamed The Jackson Five.

Michael Jackson was not destined to be in a band. Even though the Jackson Five found fame, he was destined to be a solo performer. In the late 1970s, Michael struck out on his own. By 1982, Michael Jackson was releasing his second solo album. Thriller became the most successful album of all times. Thriller stayed on Billboards top 200 for 80 consecutive weeks. RIAA certified Thriller for 28 million shipments, earning Thriller Double Diamond status. Worldwide, Thriller sold between 47 million and 109 million copies.

Michael Jackson was not content to only be a performer. In 1988, he added the title of author to his identities. He released his first autobiography, Moon Walk. Moon Walk took him four years to complete. The book sold over 200,000 copies.

In 1988, Michael Jackson purchased land near Santa Ynez, California. On this land, he built world famous Neverland Ranch. Michael Jackson spent a total of $17 million on Neverland Ranch. He installed Ferris wheels, a zoo, and a movie theatre. He also hired over 40 security guards. In 2003 it would be appraised for a whopping $100 million.

Michael Jackson proved that he could do more than just perform. He published Moon Walk in 1988. Michael Jackson spent four years producing this autobiography. It proved to be time well spent. Moon Walk sold over 200,000 copies.

In May 1994 Jackson was married for the first time to Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of Elvis Presley. Jackson and Presley's marriage was short lived, and would end in a divorce 2 years later. They would still remain friends after the divorce.

Entering his second marriage in 1996, Jacko would marry his dermatology nurse, Debbie Rowe, on November 14. Together they would have two children. Michael Joseph Jackson, now known as Prince Michael Jackson, would be the first born. Their second born would be their daughter, Paris Katherine Michael Jackson. Just 3 years later the marriage would end, but the split couple would still continue to be friends, with Deborah Rowe granting full custody of both children to Michael.

In 2002, thanks to a surrogate mother, an artificial insemination and Jacko's own sperm calls, a third child would be brought into this world for Michael. The King of Pop never revealed the mothers identity.

In 2003, Jacko was once more accused of child molestation by then 13 year old Gavin Arvizo. Jackson would be charged with seven counts of child molestation and two counts of administering an intoxicating agent to a minor.. Jackson would deny all allegations.

His trial, People vs. Jackson, would officially begin on January 31, 2005 and would last for a period of only 5 months. The trial ended with Jackson being acquitted on all counts.

In 2009, shortly before his death, Michael Jackson was scheduled to perform 50 sell out concerts to over one million people at London's O2 arena. The concerts would have started on July 13, 2009 and finished up on March 6, 2010. According to Jackson's website, the ticket sales has already broke numerous records.

On June 25,2009, Los Angeles Paramedics would receive a call at 12:22 p.m (PDT). Michael Jackson had collapsed in his rented mansion. Paramedics arrived three minutes later at Jacko's residence. CPR would be administered for an hour while en route to a local Los Angeles hospital, where Jackson would be pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m. local time.

His memorial would be held on July7, 2009, at the Staples Center in Los Angles. His casket was present at the memorial, which was broadcast live all around the world and watched by up to one billion people, but no information would be released about the final resting place of Michael Jackson's body. RIP Michael "King of Pop" Jackson. - 18424

Seven Great Songs Featuring Piano By The Beatles

By Jason R. Bohener

Before The Beatles hit the scene, rock bands just used guitars, bass, & drums. In 1965 The Beatles started to experiment with utilizing different instruments in their songs. What follows are 7 of the best Beatles tracks that make use of a piano.

"Hey Jude" was one of The Beatles longest songs and it was also one of their most popular. To this day it remains one of their most listened to songs (just check the Last.FM website for proof) and it's certainly one of the most obvious examples of a piano based Beatles song.

"Let It Be" is many people's favorite Beatles song and it may be considered the most obvious example of a Beatles piano song so of course it's included here. Even 40 years after it was recorded, "Let It Be" still resonates. And I wouldn't be surprised if it's still being listened to regularly in 2049.

"The Long & Winding Road" is a pretty ballad that was overblown by Phil Spector's over the top production on the version released in 1970. The more stripped back version heard on Let It Be... Naked allows you to hear McCartney's true intention for this song (and lets you hear the piano that's pretty much drowned out in the Spector version.) I really like the little organ solo on the stripped down version.

"For No One" featured not only McCartney on piano but also a french horn and a harpsichord. This beautifully sad song is one of my favorites on Revolver, and considering what an amazing album that is, that's saying quite a lot.

"The Fool on the Hill" is a rather quirky tune which includes piano but certainly has many other sounds in there as well (the flutes stand out in particular.)

"Lady Madonna" was another hit song based on the piano (it hit #1 in the UK in the US) for The Beatles. I would say it's amazing how many of The Beatles piano based songs became hits but really that's just par for the course for them. And, oh yeah, the melody for this song became a hit again in the 1990s for the band Sublime ("What I Got.")

"Penny Lane" isn't so well known for it's piano because there's about 50 other amazing things about the song that are more interesting, but yes this legendary song does include piano. - 18424

Online Bass Lessons: Put Your Learning In Order

By John Barton

Are you serious about wanting to improve you bass guitar playing? If you are, then one of the most productive things you can do is work on your scales. It has even been said that the level of your scale playing pretty much determines the level of your bass playing overall! I have designed these exercises to help you to develop a more accurate sense of rhythm and to improve the speed and agility of your bass guitar scales.

Tune all your strings one by one by matching the sound of the strings to the corresponding note on your tuner. Tuning your bass is not hard. But as with any other instrument it involves practice, and of course, practice makes perfect. After a while you may find that you do not even have to rely on an electronic tuner to tune your bass.

Beginner bass players should learn scales right away to save them years of time, trouble and frustration, but that most often never happens for them. Intermediate bass players have to have some patterns under their belt to even be at an intermediate level, however, they are usually the most frustrated players because they feel like they are getting somewhere with their instrument, but the are so held up with partial information that they can't move beyond where they are at.

Before you begin to play the exercises, you might want to set your metronome at 60 and practice clapping each of these rhythm--2 notes per beat, 3 notes per beat, and 4 notes per beat. The exercises consist of playing your scales with a metronome in each of these rhythms. Here is how to play them:

The goal is to be able to play all the exercises at 100 beats per minute. When you are able to do that, it will be fairly easy to further increase the tempo. Here is a suggestion for advanced practice: Try to play all the way through all three exercises without stopping in between. When you do this, the last note of the eighth note exercise will become the first note of the triplet exercise.

Hand Positioning: When playing the slap bass technique you must first make sure your hand is in the proper position or else it will be hard and awkward to play this style well. First, bend your arm at the elbow so it allows you to rest your thumb on the low E string.

Imagine a scarecrow in a corn field - that is how your arm should be bent. With your arm bent in this position it will allow your hand to be in the perfect position to allow your wrist to move freely to strike the strings.

So, now that you have the basic steps on hand position for playing your bass guitar. Now, what you've got to do is learn some other basic stuff, like scales, techniques and song. Be sure that you actually WANT to learn and don't let the frustration discourage you! - 18424

Preserving Your Blu-ray DVD Collection

By Robert Mann

With Blu-ray technology becoming more and more mainstream, many movie buffs are replacing their DVD libraries with these high-quality discs. This update also provides an opportunity to discard damaged DVDs and take care to ensure that the new Blu-rays do not suffer the same fate. Taking the time to prepare discs for years of play only takes a few minutes and is well worth the while.

Blu-ray discs benefit from a harder coating than standard DVDs and are more resistant to surface scratches. Often what appear to be scratches are actually marks that can be wiped away. Thus most difficulties with a Blu-ray disc have a very simple solution. The best material for wiping a DVD is micro-fiber cloth. This is the same material that is recommended for an LCD or Plasma TV screen. If micro-fiber is not available, a soft cloth is a safe alternative.

As with standard DVDs, Blu-ray discs should always be cleaned by moving the cloth from the center to the outer edge, rather than wiping around the surface. If imperfections still remain, dip the micro-fiber in a bit of water. There are several cleaners on the market meant for this purpose, but the surface can be easily ruined by the wrong chemical so it is wise to stick to a simpler method.

One common sense but important reminder is to take care not to leave fingerprints on a DVD. Always pick up discs by the opening in the middle or by holding the outside edges. A single fingerprint on a disc could interfere with performance.

For those instances when a Blu-ray DVD does have a surface scratch, there are home buffing kits that can return the surface of the disc to a smooth, clear state. DVDs can also be taken to an expert who will buff out any irregularities that interfere with playback.

Another key contributor to DVD damage is leaving discs in loose stacks after removing them from the player. Take the extra 10 seconds to put the Blu-ray back in its original case. The convenient plastic protectors in which the DVD was purchased not only make it easy to identify the movie but also keep the disc free from dust, dirt, scratching, and liquids. Don't be tempted to use multi-slip CD holders. Although they make DVDs more portable, they fail to block elements that can cause damage.

Blu-rays should never be left in hot temperatures or in direct sun as this can cause warping. Additionally, temperature fluctuation and varying levels of moisture over an extended period of time may affect DVD quality. A lesser known fact is that discs should be kept standing along the shelf rather than stacked flat. This will maintain the integrity of the Blu-ray.

While the lifespan of a technology is difficult to predict, Blu-ray has become the next standard for video with no identifiable substitute waiting in the wings. The incredible quality of a Blu-ray DVD is worth preserving for years of crystal clear playback. With minimal effort, a DVD collection can remain as clean and error-free as when the discs were first purchased. - 18424
