Guitar Buying For The Beginner

By Kim Clarebrooke

If you have made the decision to take up guitar playing, then the next step if going to be choosing a guitar that you can learn on. You will have a handful of choices, from the electric, bass to the acoustic guitar. It will all depend on your personal preferences though.

Try to ask yourself what fits your taste for music. Are you more on the heavy metal side or just plainly characterized by the Spanish feel? Choosing depends on the type of music you listen to or appreciate.

Either way once you have an idea of what type of guitar you want to get, it is still going to be a hassle narrowing it down to a final decision to purchase. That is why I will go over some important things to consider when you are wanting to buy a guitar.

You will have to play the music that you listen to and appreciate. As I said before, strumming is more acoustic, but if you are wanting to do those heavy metal solos, then an acoustic guitar might not be your best choice.

The most important part of choosing a guitar for the beginner is the budget. How much are you willing to invest in this hobby? For starters, just make sure that your guitar stays in tune, that will work fine for the beginning guitar player.

If you are choosing to get an electric guitar, you will have to spend more money as you will need to buy an amp and a guitar chord also. For this reason you may have to save money for awhile, or ask the seller if they have any type of payment plans that you could make to purchase the guitar of your choice.

There are many features also on guitars. Some may have more frets than others, allowing the guitar to hit higher pitch chords, while others might be better for harmonics. For practice and learning purposes, you do not need something that is extremely loud yet.

With all of the choices of different types of guitars out there, you will often second guess your choice after you buy your first. Just remember, you can always get another guitar, it does not hurt to have an acoustic and electric guitar in your music room.

Still stumped? Ask around, friends you might have that play guitar. There are also many online communities where you can ask members what guitar they started off with, and whether or not they recommend it. - 18424

More Michael Jackson Books on the Way

By Jenna Landers

There have been many words written about Michael Jackson throughout his life. As the tarnished star is finally laid to rest, the number of dedicated Michael Jackson books is set to increase exponentially. Whether these will be celebratory of his limitless talent, critiques of the man and his music, or conversations into his eccentric and explosive private life, there is sure to be something to cater for all tastes.

In the UK this week, publisher Harper Collins stole a march on their competitors, as their biographical tribute; "Michael Jackson - Legend, Hero, Icon", went to print. A study into the man behind Thriller, the fully illustrated hardback is set to hit stores across the country on Friday July 17.

With a subtitle of, "A tribute to the King of Pop", the tone of the book is reflective on the successes of Jackson's career as the best entertainer the world has ever witnessed. Mindful that many thousands of fans are still coming to terms with the loss; particularly with the timing just weeks before his "This Is It", tour, this is unsurprising.

However, it is not the first of the Michael Jackson books to hit the shelves globally.

A book long in the making, "Unmasked: The Final Years of Michael Jackson", was originally scheduled to go to print the day after the creator of the Moonwalk's death. It was delayed for a week as a mark of respect to the grieving family. Though respect did not seem to be much of an issue when the book was originally conceived and written; being rich in conjuncture and rumor.

The delay also allowed author, Ian Halperin, the opportunity to rewrite the final chapter of course.

The first completely new book since his untimely death is most likely to be found in China. Appearing in stores from Saturday July 7, two writers worked tirelessly over a 48 hour period to deliver the copy.

That one of these writers, Jiang Xiaoyu, remains an ardent fan of the star, the book, "Moonwalk in Paradise", is clearly a salute to the brilliance he shone onto the world. However, the authors admit that mistakes may have been made in validity of content; relying very much on personal thoughts, supported by internet based research.

At a time when all businesses are struggling, this sudden, unexpected rush for Michael Jackson books will please publishers, bookstore owners and authors alike. Even in death, Michael Jackson turns a pretty penny for numerous third parties. - 18424

The membership sites offering these officially authorized movies have a license to download the movies. They received a special authorization that allows them to vend the movie and compensate a royalty back to the copyright possessor.

[spin|Most|For the most part|As a rule|Generally often you will find a generous library of films that you can download to observe on your computer or sometimes they are streamed at once to the server. They often recommend software that allows you to burn the motion picture to a disc so you can observe from your TV set.

It can take some time to download a complete movie to your computer. Your download speed is reliant upon your Internet connection and your PC. You can use a dial-up system but it will take much longer and you risk disconnection, which will cause you to have to begin all over again. Regardless of the speed you may want to set it up to download when you are gone from your PC because it can take time.

Jonas Brothers Tour The U.S. and Canada

By Anne Lewis

The latest Jonas Brothers' album is out, and it's already the most talked about album in America! "Lines, Vines and Trying Times" debuted at #1 in the Billboard Top 200 Chart, and now it's time for the Jonas Brothers to bring the music to your hometown.

The Brothers, Nick, Kevin and Joe launched their career earlier this decade, fueled by massive exposure on the Disney Channel and despite their relative freshness to the American awareness, they've put out over eight million in album sales worldwide. The band is comprised of Nick, who provides the vocals and rhythm guitar for the band, Joe and Kevin, the oldest brother. Although Nick is the youngest, it was his voice that catapulted the group to stardom.

Middle brother Joe, who shares lead vocals with Nick, had a high profile romance with Taylor Swift, and finds himself a tabloid fixture--when all he wanted to do was be a comedian. Some guys have all the luck. Kevin, the eldest Jonas, plays lead guitar and sings backup, and was chosen as one of People Magazine's Sexiest Men Alive in 2008.

After originally signing to Columbia Records, the Jonas Brothers learned the music business, and the work it takes to success very quickly. Their debut album was woefully marketed and they made a quick decision to switch labels to secure better promotion. The self titled album then rose to a Top 5 ranking when they appeared on the Disney Channel's Hannah Montana show.

From there, their star only ascended, with their third album, "A Little Bit Longer," peaking at #1 in 2008. During their reign at the top, the Jonas Brothers also starred in their own Disney Channel reality show, titled "Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream." It documented their concurrent tour, all while showing a more intimate side of the band, their friends and family.

"Camp Rock," a Jonas Brothers-starring TV movie, also debuted with one of the highest ever TV movie viewer totals ever. Even the soundtrack to "Camp Rock" debuted in the top-5 on the Billboard Charts, and just when the summer of 2008 couldn't look any better for the Brothers, they were featured on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine, becoming the youngest band ever to have been honored so.

During the spring, the Jonas Brothers toured South American and managed to sneak in a few European tour dates, and then took some time to put together their next smash hit. They released "Lines, Vines and Trying Times" in June and as they took the stage for their 2009 world tour, the album was sitting at number one.

In late June, the tour started in front of 50,000 fans at the new Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, and is now moving north to Western Canada. From Canada, the tour winds its way back towards the east coast, before heading to LA, where the Jonas Brothers will host the 2009 Teen Choice Awards on August 10th. After once again making their way back east and into the South during the rest of August, the band will take a 2-month break to recharge before tackling Europe during October and November. - 18424

The Possum: George Jones

By James G. Pynn

If you know -- good. If you don't -- you should. George Jones was one of the hardest drinking, fastest living son of a guns in all of country music history. Admittedly living a life modeled after his hero, Hank Williams, George Jones blazed a trail of infamy and heartache across the wide-open plains of country music history. Known for his distinctive voice and loose phrasing style, the exploits of George Jones have passed from mere stories into legend.

According to a Country Music Television poll, Jones is the "the greatest living country singer" today. In true George Jones style, I'm sure hed say something to the effect, "it's the living part that's tricky." His clever turn of phrases and unusual vocal style can best be sampled on such legendary hits as "White Lightin'" and "He Stopped Loving Her Today." Then again, all of his songs carry that signature sound.

Of course Jones was famously married to Tammy Wynette. This marriage made in madness was the stuff of legend, often requiring the services of the local sheriff to help them mediate. Of course that's a fancy word for "cool off." Between his drinking problem and her drug addiction, it was not the high point of marital bliss for either one of them, When it all came crashing down in 1975, no one was surprised.

Despite being in to his seventies now, George Jones has not stopped recording or touring. Indeed, he is on tour this summer and is coming to a local gin joint near you. Though there might no be as much pep in his step, his voice is as rich and full as ever. No one can turn a song like The Possum. For those of you not in the know, that's his nickname.

It has never been easier to get your hands on a pair of George Jones tickets. You just have to follow the links to the best little booking service around. Don't wait until the last minute and fall prey to the scalpers. Get a great ticket at a fair price and sleep well at night. But do it quick, because the Possum is not on tour for long. - 18424
