Big Trouble in Little China - Buddy Blowhard trucker Russell finds himself at large in Chinatown, while a friend's fiance is abducted right in front of his eyes. High tech Indiana Jones fashion adventure has colossal tongue-in-cheek manner, however everything else in reference to it is immense, too including Russell's John Wayne swagger. Superb electric music score. The cast includes Kurt Russell, Kim Cattrall, Dennis Dun, James Hong, Champ Wong, and Kate Burton. (99 minutes, 1986)

Sugar Town - Enjoyable mosaic of LA life characterizing a handful of characters whose lives fit together - a musician hopeful who will do anything to get ahead, an uptight lone woman who allures the inappropriate men like a magnet, and a band made up of cleaned-up '80s rock stars, to name a few. Made on a shoestring, although clever and well recognized; outstanding cast contains a variety of actual musicians. Cast includes Ally Sheedy, Rosanna Arquette, John Taylor, Jade Gordon, Michael Des Barres, Lucinda Jenney, and Martin Kemp. (92 minutes, 1999)

China Nine Liberty 37 - This is a perplexing Western in which railroad tycoons spare a man from gallows in trade for killing another gunfighter. The gunfighter's girlfriend falls for the murderer and helps do his evil work. Title refers to the road sign giving distance to two nearby towns. Cast includes Warren Oates, Fabio Testi, Jenny Agutter, and Sam Peckinpah. (102 minutes, 1978)

The Hex - Player Keith steps behind the camcorder to direct this down-home terror film. A deadly meteorite lands on a Tennessee farm, actually driving the people insane after contaminating their food. Cast includes Will Wheaton, Claude Akins, Cooper Huckabee, John Schneider, and Amy Wheaton. (90 minutes, 1987)

Ruby Gentry - Pretentious, strolling account of simple-minded Southerner Jones wedding well-to-do Malden to spite Heston, the man she cherishes Cast includes Jennifer Jones, Charlton Heston, Karl Malden, and Josephine Hutchinson. (82 minutes, 1952)

Hanky Panky - Blameless designer Wilder is pursued by snoops, cops, etc. Conventional, hardly comical comedy-thriller, with Radner miscast as the love interest. The motion picture was meant to be a follow-up to Stir Crazy, although Richard Pryor's part was changed for Gilda. You've watched it all before, and more superior. Cast includes Gene Wilder, Gilda Radner, Kathleen Quinlan, Richard Widmark, Robert Prosky, Josef Sommer, and Johnny Sekka. (88 minutes, 1982)

Alfie - Well redone interpretation of Bill Naughton play he additionally wrote. Caine is excellent as philandering Cockney playboy who is put in a very demanding situation. Cast includes Michael Caine, Shelley Winters, Millicent Marin, Julia Foster, Jane Asher, Shirley Anne Field, Graham Stark, and Murray Melvin. (114 minutes, 1966) - 18424
