Mysterious Lady - An Austrian armed forces officer (Nagel) falls in love with Garbo, clueless that she's a Russian agent. Another unnatural plot made serviceable by Garbo herself. Cast includes Greta Garbo, Conrad Nagel, Gustav von Seyffertitz, Albert Pollet, and Edward Connelly. (96 minutes, 1928)

Inferno - American returns to New York from school in Rome to investigate the shocking death of his sibling, and finds "sinister moms" inflicting paranormal disorder on both sides of Atlantic. Surreal, mesmerizing shocker by Italian terror genius Argento doesn't make much sense, but it has a lot of style. Cast includes Leigh McCloskey, Irene Marvel, Sacha Pitoeff, Daria Nicolodi, Eleonora Giorgi, Veronica Lazar, and Alida Valli. (107 minutes, 1984)

Say It Isn't So - Agreeably un-ambitious Klein falls for the new hairdresser in town Graham. They have consensual sex and then Klein discovers that Graham is his sister. It is a complete flop. Cast includes Heather Graham, Chris Klein, Orlando Jones, Sally Field, Richard Jenkins, John Rothman, Brent Briscoe, and Sarah Silverman. (96 minutes, 1988)
