The movie is full of scares, and lots of fun proving that a thriller doesn't have to be dumb. Cast includes Sam Neill, William H. Macy, Tea Leoni, Alessandro Nivola, Trevor Morgan, Michael Jeter, John Diehl, and Bruce A. Young. (93 minutes, 2001)

The Jackpot: An old style, little comedy, uplifted by megastars. Stewart is the winner of a radio competition although he couldn?t pay the taxes on the winnings. Cast includes James Stewart, Barbara Hale, James Gleason, Fred Clark, and Natalie Wood. (87 minutes, 1960)

Number 17: Amusing comedy-thriller has tramp Lion coming across a treasure robber?s hideout. Arousing chase scene engages a train and bus. Screenplay by Hitchcock.T, Cast includes Lion, Anne Grey, John Stuart, Donald Calthrop, Barry Jones, and Garry Bog. (63 minutes, 1932)

The Plough and the Stars: This is a boring, theatrical style film of a Sean O?Casey play with Foster as Irish a revolutionary leader and Stanwyck as his long-agonizing spouse who prays for his life. Cast includes Barbara Stanwyck, Preston Foster, Barry Fitzgerald, Una O'Connor, Bonita Granville, and Arthur Guards. (78 minutes, 1936)

Sensations of 1945: The fame hungry Powell shows journalist O'Keefe how to become successful in this campy musical. One marvelous number has her tap dancing inside a mammoth pinball game. Cast includes Eleanor Powell, Dennis O'Keefe, C. Aubrey Smith, Eugene Pallette, W. C. Territories, Cab Calloway, and Sophie Tucker. (86 minutes, 1945)

Stairway to Heaven: Powell and Pressburger manage to straddle actuality and fantasy in a most disarming approach in this irregular tale of a guide in WW2 who claims he was unintentionally selected to die, and should now plead for his life in a Heavenly court. Cast includes David Niven, Kim Hunter, Raymond Massey, Roger Livesey, Robert Coote, Marius Goring, and Richard Attenborough. (104 minutes, 1946)

Hold That Ghost: Prime Abott and Costello, with the boys inheriting a haunted house. This fine cast contains humorous Davis as virtuoso radio screamer. A highlight is the moving candle. Cast includes Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, Richard Carlson, Joan Davis, Mischa Auer, Evelyn Ankers, Marc Lawrence, Shemp Howard, Ted Lewis, and The Andrews Sisters. (86 minutes, 1941)

Club Extinction: A wave of suicides stuns future Berlin. Patrol investigator Niklas starts to suspect engagement of Beals, spokesperson for an Eden like resort, who's connected to media tycoon Dr. Marsfeldt (Bates). Cast includes Alan Bates, Jennifer Beals, Jan Niklas, Hans ZiscWer, Benoit Regent, Peter Fitz, Andrew McCarthy, Wolfgang Preiss, and Isolde Barth. (112 minutes, 1990)
