Black like Me - Strong drama based on real history of a reporter who took drugs that allowed him to pass for black so he might undergo racial prejudice first hand. Some aspects of presentation are outdated, although topics are still significant. Cast includes James Whitmore, Roscoe Lee Browne, Lenka Petersen, Sorrell Booke, Will Geer, Al Freeman, and Raymond Jacques. 107 minutes, 1964.
The Ploughman's Lunch - Complicated, skeptical denunciation of British behaviors, ethics and affairs of state, focusing on the maneuvers of wholly egocentric journalist (Pryce) and others throughout the Falklands battle. The motion picture is relatively perceptive, within the restraints of its outlook. Cast includes Jonathan Pryce, Tim Curry, Rosemary Harris, Blunt Finlay, and Charlie Dore. 100 minutes, 1983.
Internal Affairs - Youthful police officer Raymond Avila works in the Internal Affairs Department of the LAPD. He and his partner see something suspicious with Dennis Peck. His financial situation is much stronger than expected on a cop's income. As soon as Peck is conscious of the investigation, he turns his attention away from his dishonest dealings to center on Avila.
Frequency - John Sullivan lost his father thirty years back. He is still affected by the passing. Somehow with the use of his father's old ham radio, he can be in touch with his father, when his father was still living. He tells his dad of the fire that would kill him. This saves his father but sets off new actions that now must be resolved, or John's mom will now die.
Above the Law - This is Steven Segal's breakout film. He plays a Chicago Cop who takes matters into his own hands. As the title implies, he is 'above the law'. He uses his large body and martial arts skills to inflict mayhem on the bad guys. Stars include Steven Segal, Pam Grier, and Sharon Stone. 1988 Action.
The Defiant - A captivating story of 2 fugitive convicts, one black and one white who are chained together as they escape from the penitentiary in the South. Exceptional performances by Williams and Chaney as individuals they meet during the voyage. Academy Prize for screenplay by Harold Jacob Smith and Nathan E.
