By Rebecca D Scott

A good film can begin as a screenplay that is authored just to be a motion picture, or sometimes a notable film is an adaptation of an similarly magnificent book. Various good films start in the imagination of a remarkable author. Here are a few film adaptations from books for the year 2009.

In June 2009, "My Sister's Keeper" was released. Based upon the work of fiction by Jodi Picoult, and starring Cameron Diaz and Jason Patric, this motion picture follows the account of a family with one sick child and another child who is a genetic match to her sister, because she was conceived to keep the first child alive. The book and the movie are both really heart-wrenching, however, the altered ending of the motion picture will dishearten the readers of the book.

August 2009 brings us "The Time Traveler's Wife" based on the popular story by Audrey Niffenegger. Starring Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana, it is a sweeping romantic movie about the life a man who has a hereditary disorder that causes him to trek through time and his marriage with the woman who has loved him her whole life.

Based upon two writings, the film "Julie and Julia" is an elevating comedy about the lives of 2 women. Julie Powell, a youthful woman who attempts to cook all of the recipe's in Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" and the renowned cook, Julia Childs. Based on the book "Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1Tiny Apartment Kitchen" by Julie Powell and "My Life In France" by Julia Child and Alex Prud-homme.

"Taking Woodstock" is based upon the memoir of Elliot Tibor, a youthful gay man who unintentionally helped to make the most infamous rock concert in history come alive, The Woodstock Music and Arts Festival from 1969. Based upon the volume of the same name, the movie is directed by Ang Lee.

If you want your kids to giggle and laugh, you need to read them "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs". If you are keen on the book you can look forward to the motion picture by the same name that comes out in September 2009. Featuring Anna Faris, James Caan and the Saturday Night Live crew of Bill Hader, Andy Samberg and Tracy Morgan it is sure to be uproarious if it comes even close to the book.

October 2009 will bring us another ageless children's story. Like the book of the same name "Where the Wild Things Are" will follow the adventures of Max, who imagines that he sails away to the space where all of the wild things roam.

October will bring us "The Road" starring Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron. Based upon the famous and Pulitzer Prize winning work of fiction by Cormac McCarthy. It is an larger-than-life story of a voyage taken by a father and his young son in post apocalyptic times. "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold will be released as a film in December 2009. This heart-wrenching narrative centers on a young girl who has been murdered and is watching over her family unit and the events on Earth from heaven.

And there you have just a few of the motion pictures adaptations that are coming out in 2009. If you are the sort who wants to read the book before seeing the movie, now is your chance. - 18424
