The Epiphone Supernova Guitar

By Peter Davison

Nothing shouts rock god more than a guitar that covets the guitarists signature and band name of one of the greatest bands or artist. Custom designed signature guitar models are a very important part of any guitar makers selection and provides greater credibility and recommendation from the celebrities of today and yesterday that play and recommend their instruments. It is also an important part of the overall marketing campaign of the maker - but it is a great way of selling more products.

Made in Korea, the Epiphone Supernova hollow body guitar is the signature model from Noel Gallagher from the pop band Oasis - one of the largest, most influential, controversial and best rock bands of the previous 20 years. Noel is the songwriter and brains that backs Oasis, whist his brother Liam Gallagher is the larger than life front man, featuring heavily in the eye of the press and certainly infamous for his brash and loud personality, swearing and general OTT rock star credentials. Oasis are most well known for songs such as Don't look back in anger and Shakermaker and their style of "Brit Pop" and guitar based rock still stands the test of time and is still accessible to todays bands. Although they are more mellow now and not as quite as popular as they used to be, they are continually releasing great albums under the genius of Noel - who also plans to release his solo album in the future.

The 1995 Epiphone Supernova is a custom made designed version of the Sheraton guitar, another one of Epiphone's more popular guitars. The Supernova you and I can buy today is not the same as the one used by Oasis though. As part of the promotion of the best selling album, Whats The Story Morning Glory, Noel was filmed modelling a specially made Epiphone Sheraton covered with the union jack logo. Designed to mimic that particular guitar, the public model has a different style and a few small changes such as featuring different models of pick ups, Alnico 57s as opposed to mini humbucker pickups as featured on the original. The originating model played by Noel hangs in the O2 arena in the UK as part of the British Music Experience exhibition.

The %KEYWORD1% is no longer manufactured but was available in various colors including the infamous signature union jack model requested by Noel. The other colors were blue to represent the Manchester City team that Noel supports, Cherry Red and a limited edition Ebony Black model. The guitar features big block fret markers, a slim and long scale kneck, a rose wood fret-board, a vintage tremolo, a laminated and hollow body which makes it light to hold and better to play. The pick guard has Noel's signature on and features the Epiphone brand logo.

The %KEYWORD1% generates warm tones that are practical for rock or blues. Although it sounds a bit like a more expensive Gibson guitar, the %KEYWORD1% will produce the results you want. The manufacturing quality is excellent and should be without any major defects or issues.

The %KEYWORD1% is well rounded guitar and well worth spending your money on - especially if you also enjoy Oasis and Noel Gallagher! - 18424
