Thieves: Arrogant, uninteresting adaptation of Herb Gardner's play in regards to insane couple trying to recollect their innocence in a corrupt N.Y.C. Corey as Thomas' cabbie dad adds only life to so-hailed comedy. Bob Fosse has a concise role. Cast includes Marlo Thomas, Charles Grodin, Irwin Corey, Hector Elizondo, Mercedes McCambridge, John McMartin, Gary Merrill, and Ann Wedgeworth. (92 minutes, 1977)
Crimson Tide: The USS Alabama has been put to sea. A Russian nuclear submarine is now in the hands of a rebel faction of the old Soviet Union. An order to attack has come down from high command. With the threat of WWIII in the balance, the Captain, and the Lt. Commander disagree on the best course of action to take.
The Great Muppet Caper: The Muppets try to solve a London gem robbery in their second characteristic film. Here we have smart gags and notions plus humorous lyrical numbers with Miss Piggy make up for a strolling script with more than its share of dull shots. Cast includes The Muppet Entertainers Jim Henson, Blunt Oz, Dave Gomez, Jerry Nelson, and Jack Warden. (95 minutes, 1981)
A Fish Called Wanda: In London, two American thieves Otto, and Wanda, team up with two British crooks, George and Ken, to steal some very valuable diamonds. They succeed, and then hide the diamonds, planning to split up the loot later. Wanda and Otto want it all for themselves, so they rat George out. The problem is that George has moved the diamonds. Can Wanda and Otto find the diamonds, and get away?
Just Around The Corner: Simpleminded com with Shirley singlehanded1y ending the A state of depression, exploiting pessimistic baron Gillingwater into developing new jobs. Although the lyrical numbers with Robinson are still a pleasure the film is shown in pc-colored rendition. Cast includes Shirley Church, Joan Davis, Charles Farrell, Amanda Duff, Bill Robinson, Bert Lahr, and Claude Gillingwater. (70 minutes, 1938)
Blindrnan: Anthony desires reprisal from a gentleman who robbed 50 mail order newlyweds. This provides meaningless amusement, albeit some film with Ringo as an oily Mexican bandit might help the film. Cast includes Tony Anthony, Ringo Starr, Agneta Eckemyr, and Lloyd Batista.(105 minutes, 1972)
The Man in the Moon: Ingratiatingly old-styled weeper set in rural Louisiana in 1957, in reference to a l4-year-old gal in love with an older boy, who in turn favors her college-confined sister. Newcomer Witherspoon is vivid as the younger sister more early teenage lightning for controller Mulligan, who guided T Kill a Mockingbird. Pleasantly shot by Freddie Francis. Waterston has some powerful scenes as the gals' dad. Cast includes Sam Waterston, Tess Harper, Gail Strickland, Reese Witherspoon, Jason London, and Ernie Energetic. (99 minutes, 1991)
Wild Wild West: This is a big screen adaptation to the old TV series of the same name. James West and his buddy Artemus Gordon are determined to stop the evil Dr. Arliss Loveless, who is planning to assassinate the president. Will Smith stars as James West.
