Here's how you can find out exactly what you should be looking for when choosing a guitar course. I am going to list most of the mistakes beginners make when looking through the mine field of courses available on the internet. You should have enough information be able to spot the good from the bad after reading this article.

You would be correct in your approach to selecting a guitar tutoring course that is available on the internet as it is the perfect medium to sift through the many that are available both online and offline. You have basically two choices to make:

Online or Offline?

In days gone by people only had one choice and that was to physically go to a guitar tutor to have some guitar lessons at their home or place of work or for them to come to you. In this modern day of technology and the internet we have numerous choices at our disposal but as stated it can be a mine field for the beginner and a costly mistake should you get it wrong!

We will start by going through the advantages and disadvantages of the two basic choices we have on offer and will hopefully help you in making the correct decision with regards to which type to go for. First up, online guitar lessons.

Online Guitar Lessons or Courses

What do we mean by an online guitar course? An online guitar course are a series of guitar lessons that are conducted purely over the internet where you either download the guitar lessons or view them as they are streaming. The problem with these type of courses is that the quality tends not to be as good as hard copy (DVD) type courses and if you do not have a super fast internet connection then they can take light years to download if you want real good, clear quality.

You will also find that is it quite hard to build up an archive of material that you can refer back to over and over again. With any guitar course you choose to go with, one of the major considerations is that you must be able to archive the material easily and be able to put your hands on a particular part of the course instantly should you wish to refer back to it at a later date. Also a good tip is to look for a REAL address. and telephone number, DO NOT go for any course that only gives you a PO Box as an address. A real address helps to confirm the company is legitimate and responsible

Offline Guitar Lessons or Courses

What are offline guitar lessons?

Offline guitar lessons or guitar courses are usually conducted by a live tutor. The tutor may come to your home but most conduct their lessons from either their place of work or home charging a fee for their services. Here lies two problems. The first being GOOD guitar tutors are like trying to find a needle in a haystack, they are few and far between. You can end up changing tutors every month or so which does you no good whatsoever. Finding the right tutor who suits you in your area can be a real nightmare and sometimes depending where you live almost impossible.

Another problem with live guitar tutors in my opinion is that most will give you only just enough information to keep you coming back and charge you as much as they can possibly get away with. Not the best scenario.

The Disadvantages of Going for Regular Guitar Lessons.

* Having regular live guitar lessons brings up another problem. You have to have your lesson at a predetermined time and place meaning the rest of your day has to work around it.

* Your tutor may not necessarily be into the type of music you love to play which means that you'll not enjoy your lessons as much as you could, which in turn means that your learning will not progress as quickly as it should.

* When learning to play an instrument you will come across something that you are not too sure about and need to ask a question or find the solution. With regular guitar lessons you will need to wait until your next lesson in order to get your questions answered. Ideally you want your answers NOW so you can get on with your progression and move to the next stage...

* A lot of people feel very nervous when playing back what they have learned that week to their tutor. They feel under pressure to get it absolutely spot on, when really they would perform at their best when in a relaxed atmosphere in their own surroundings...

So Where Does That Leave YOU?

Do not fear! There is an alternative to both these methods yet encompasses both.

The alternative is to have your lessons sent to you through the post on hard copy DVD. It is ordered over the internet allowing you to shop around WORLDWIDE and is then delivered through conventional post to your door. This method far outweighs the other two as it encompasses both, is of very high quality, you create an instant archive and lessons are given step by step in a chronological order by the same tutor.

So if this is my recommendation, which course do you choose???

Before choosing a course of lessons they MUST meet the following criteria:

* A FAST Structured Progression that is VERY EASY to follow and understand.

* A course of lessons created by someone who has a vast experience in the music industry, is a professional (gets paid for playing the guitar and hasnt got a job on the side), knows what he is doing and is not some wizz kid who has learned the guitar, played for about 3-4 years and trying to cash in and make a fast buck

* A course you can study and take part in, in a nice relaxed environment with no pressure put upon you, helping you to progress at lightning pace because you are in a cool, relaxed frame of mind.

* A course of lessons that you know you CAN afford and you know will be great value for money ensuring you'll not get ripped off.

* A Solid, Cast Iron, No Questions Asked, FULL Money Back Guarantee. Just ask your guitar tutor for your money back once he has given you your lesson! It's not repeatable what he'll say!!!

* A course of lessons that doesn't beat around the bush and gives you what you are looking for straight out of the tin bringing you on as fast as possible...

* Lessons that you can refer back to over and over again that will inspire and motivate you with audio, video, illustrations and downloadable teaching aids

* All The Fast Track Short Cuts That The Professionals DON'T Want You to Know.

My advice for anyone wanting to learn the guitar is take your time and do your research. There are many, many guitar courses out there some are very good and some very bad. Use the pointers Ive listed above and this should help you to sift through them to find one that suits your needs.

If there is another piece of advice I can give you it would be this:

Scour the internet and choose a course that you think will best suit your needs using the guidelines I have listed here. Make sure you're happy by sticking with the first two or three lessons then once happy stick with the course. DO NOT be tempted to change tutor or course. You will eventually get tuned into the tutors way of teaching and putting the course across speeding up your learning progression.

I hope you have found this article informative and I will be posting more in the future on Guitar Lessons taking the beginner through to advanced player in the shortest possible time. - 18424
