CD Box Sets & New Rock Band Video Game: 9/9/9 Is Beatles Day
The Holidays come early for Beatles fanatics this year. September 9th is the day when the new remastered Beatles CDs finally come out after wait of over 20 years.
The Beatles first released their albums on CD in the 1980s and at that time CD technology was still quite new. The mastering done for those CD is considered to be of inferior quality, which is why Beatles fans have been impatiently waiting for these new remastered CDs.
The remastered CDs are not the only Beatles stuff coming out on 9/9/9, there's also the original mono mixes of their albums through 1968's The White Album being released on CD.
These new mono mix CDs will be the first time that many younger Beatles fans get to hear these albums as they were originally intended to be heard because it's the first time that the mono mixes have ever been on CD.
The mono mixes interest people today because some think of them as the "real" versions of these albums. So even though mono is now an outdated way of mixing, there is reason to want to hear these mixes today.
Mono was the standard at the time and because of that The Beatles spent a lot more time on the mono mixes than they did on the stereo mixes. In fact the stereo mixes were thrown together rather hastily in comparison.
Some claim that the mono versions of Sgt. Pepper & Revolver are far better than the stereo mixes. Those of us who grew up with the stereo versions find that hard to believe, but I think we are very curious to hear what these old timers are talking about, too.
The new Beatles Rock Band game also comes out on 9/9/9. I'm not a huge video game guy but I do love the Rock Band games, they are fun. And the Beatles game should really take it to the next level.
The graphics and game play look really awesome from the previews I've seen. Even if you're not a big video game person, I'd give the Beatles Rock Band a try if you're a fan of the band. It promises to be great fun. - 18424
